Case study
Culinum sought a way to combine premium content and community features in a single app. The existing WordPress setup couldn’t support complex relationships between recipes, seasonal plans, and user profiles.
We began with user research and mapped the cooking journey from idea to ingredient purchase. We discovered users wanted to cook by season, quickly filter recipes, and access nutrition info without extra tabs.
We defined a modular design system in Figma that enables the content team to publish recipes through MDX blocks. The editor displays real-time previews and alerts authors if key information for Google Rich Results is missing.
Meal planning was solved through automatic shopping list generation and nutrition value calculations based on ingredients. Users can adjust portion sizes, substitute ingredients, and instantly see updated calorie counts.
The gamification layer introduces badges and challenges that motivate users to try new recipes and share their creations. The result: a 65% increase in monthly engagement and a 42% growth in the newsletter list within the first six weeks.
