CASE STUDY

Case study

Caterpillar IO was designed as an approachable multiplayer game that users can launch immediately, without creating an account or completing a long introduction. The goal was to combine simple controls and short play sessions across web and mobile devices.

In a shared green world, players steer a caterpillar, collect blue dew drops, and gradually grow longer. The pointer controls direction, while holding the control activates a boost, making the core mechanic easy to learn.

The web version lets players join a real-time multiplayer match directly from their browser. A global leaderboard displays the best completed runs and refreshes scores about every 30 seconds.

Mobile versions are available for iPhone, iPad, Android phones, and tablets. Alongside online play, users can practice offline against three bots.

The result is one cohesive experience across the web, iOS, and Android, supported by a distinctive visual identity and a clear path from the landing page to the first match.
